From November 17–19, 2024, the RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast hosted the inaugural Queensland District Championship, bringing together talented golfers from across the state. This prestigious event featured six women and six men from each district, with two players representing each division (1, 2, & 3).
The FNQ Women’s Golf Team rose to the occasion, showcasing their skills and determination over three days of competition:

Division 2: Sheree Kemp (Palmer Sea Reef), Jenetta Wood (Cairns)
Division 3: Diane Diversi (Cairns), Debbie Westerman (Half Moon Bay)
A Memorable Competition
The format of the championship tested the players’ versatility:

Day 2: Single Stableford (including a 2-person aggregate event)
Day 3: Single Stableford
The Royal Pines course, known for its challenging layout, provided a tough but rewarding experience for the competitors. The FNQ team embraced the challenge with skill, focus, and a positive spirit.
Amber Barker’s Spectacular Achievement
A special highlight of the event was Amber Barker’s incredible performance, winning the Division 1 individual event and achieving her first-ever hole-in-one on the second day of the competition—a moment to remember!
Gratitude and Congratulations
The team expressed heartfelt thanks to the FNQ Women’s Golf Committee for the opportunity to compete at such a high level. While the Wide Bay District claimed the overall team victory, the FNQ Women’s Team represented their district with distinction and pride.
